Earth’s Table’s first garden, Jubilee, was founded in 1999 with a specific mission: “The end of hunger begins here” – in a garden. A handful of volunteers cultivated one garden and grew about 1000 pounds of produce. Since then, Earth’s table has donated nearly 250,000 pounds of fresh produce to local food banks from its many gardens.
Earth’s Table donates 100% of its produce, over 42,000 pounds in 2018, to Community Food Share and affiliated food banks for distribution to people qualifying for food assistance.
Earth’s Table is 100% volunteer-powered. We estimate 7500 volunteer hours are needed to tend, seed, plant, harvest and maintain our gardens. Volunteer garden managers organize all aspects of the garden work making it easy for novices and one-time volunteers to “dig-in”.
